Photographic Exhibition Branding Suite 2014 TAFE students

Here is some branding that I designed for the graduation exhibition of photographic students whom will be graduating in early 2014. These things have to be organised early!
They wanted a logo that wasn't cliche' but still related to the title 'Raw Point of View', so I designed an eye with a depth focus icon (seen inside a camera). Shazzam! Double meaning of raw icon and focus!
The little instagram style photos around the logo are little happy snapshots that would be taken by ALL of the students exhibiting. That way everybody's work is included in the branding imagery and will be a nice memento for students and their families to keep. These photos give a mixed/collage vibe to show that the exhibition will be a 'mixed collection' of students photographic work.
Included here is the logo in its colour variations, A2 poster and DL invite. A booklet and banner was also designed to complete the suite.

Printing Industry Craftsmanship Awards (PICA) 2014- booklet, postcard, invite, poster design

It has been an insanely busy term (yet again!) Here are some of the key pages from a booklet I made last week for the Printing Industry Craftsmanship Awards (PICA) of South Australia.
I hand cut all of the linos (a traditional form of printing) and used an aquatic theme to tell the tale. The colour scheme was based on semaphore flags.
I had the best time hand cutting all of the artworks!

The siren calls people to enter (the competition)

PICA is looking for the treasures in the printing industry

The rewards are lucrative if you get them!

A whale was a great mascot for being a powerhouse of the printing industry.

The squid battle (squids have INK right?) Who will get to wear the king of inks crown this year?

AGDA Mentorship begins- good bye free time!

Yesterday was a BIG day. It also heralded the start of the design mentorship that I won through the AGDA (Australian Graphic Design Association). I was one of 9 students in South Australia. Thanks AGDA!! You are legends!!! The legendary Zach (my design buddy) also won one with a cool firm too.

I met with my new graphic design mentors Clare and Matthew from Eco Creative.  I am looking forward to learning a whole lot of exciting things about the design world, especially sustainability with them. Check out the great stuff that they do here:

Rodger's Reward winning wine label design

Woo hooo yeahhhhh! Yesterday my wine label design was chosen by the client to go into print production for the Rodger's Winery in McLaren Vale. The label I designed expresses the journey of the Rodger family in coming together and making their award winning grapes. Last year their grapes were used in a wine that won BEST RED at the World Wine Show. Wow!! Cant wait to see my label on a bottle of their delicious wine :) I also really hope that I get the opportunity to do more branding with their winery. I love making wine label designs!

Travel the world in day at the Adelaide Zoo- map project

I made this map to show that you can have a break from your daily life/routine and TRAVEL THE WORLD IN A DAY at the Adelaide Zoo. Many amazing plants and animals are there and you can see the sites and smell the smells of many countries, so it is just like a one day holiday. If only they served food from various parts of the world it would be perfect. I LOVE THE ZOO!!

Sophie Hann- artist logo and branding

Meet one of the bright jewels of the South Australian art scene, Sophie Hann. Award winning portrait painter, landscape painter, art teacher and exhibitor. Sophie Hann paints with nostalgia, brilliance and charm and her paintings are highly collectable!

We were delighted to be a part of Sophie's graphic design and re-branding recently. What an honour! Zach and I designed a logo/ business card for her that encapsulates the voice of her arts practice. We used a signature grey and blue that are re-occurring colours in her paint palette and we immortalised her painterly signature for the logo. We are really excited and pleased to see our designs for Sophie's business printed and ready to be distributed to friends, colleagues and future customers.

If you are interested in learning to paint or draw under her instruction, or even commission a portrait by her, then you can find out more about her here: http://sophiehann.tumblr.com/ otherwise just go to her site to have a  little peek-a-boo at the lovely artworks that she makes.

Here is a little more about Sophie;

Largely self-taught, Sophie won a scholarship and had a brief stint  at the New York Studio School. As a teenager, she also spent time with the master of tonal realism Robert Hannaford.

She’ s won some prizes including the Ruth Tuck Travelling Scholarship and the Art Gallery of New South Wales Dyason Bequest.

Her work has been selected for a number awards, including Alice Bale Award, Brett Whitely Scholarship, Hans Heysen Landscape Prize, the Portia Geach Memorial Award and some others…

New logo designed for Sukie clothing and homewares

It has been a busy time for Zach and I juggling our graphic design studies and working with clients on the side. One of the amazing and talented people we met was Kareena from Sukie. She was one of those dream clients (often fantasised about but hardly ever found) who came fully prepared to our client meeting, with lots of inspiration for us, but with an open mind about the results. We cant wait to work more with her and help her little business sky rocket.

So with further adieu meet Kareena from the children's clothing label Sukie. She is AWESOME! She designs and makes limited edition children's and women's clothing and homewares from new and vintage fabric. Her style is fun and colourful and we love her work. Check out her ETSY store here-www.etsy.com/shop/sukiethreads

We designed her a new fun logo that would stand out in the marketplace and reflect the style of work that she does

This is what she says about her work:
"'Sukie' is an Australian handmade children's clothing label, with limited edition sukie-for-grown-ups lines available from time to time!
The inspiration behind the label comes from my little Sukie who loves clothes and is affectionately known for wearing absolutely anything with anything!
I love fabric and prints and sewing it all together to make something fun to wear!"

New psychedelic 60's dangly earrings

Nothing like holidays to get you feeling all creative and free to make and do what you want. So I put on some cool beats and made some 60's inspired super big high polish dangly earrings. Just the type that some of my disco mama girlfriends love to wear on the d-floor.

Animal brooches forever

I wish I could spend all day everyday making silver animal brooches! Here is my new ad that I made a few days ago. Soon I will have to update the 4 web shops so that they are all branded the same way.... so much effort when all I want to do is make pretty things.

Style inspiration for porcelain studs

Here are the faces of the girls that should be wearing the new vintage porcelain studs.

Fresh out of the kiln

Looks what is still smoking hot and out of the kiln this week, vintage porcelain studs. We sold out so quickly last year so I have to get making earlier this year. Wonderful colour pops to sell at market. Yayyyyyy!
